The Inhuman League finished their 2016 British Championships season with a thrilling encounter against second place Crash Test Brummies on Saturday.
TIL, who had already been crowned National Division champions, were pipped to victory in a closely fought 146-150 contest that went down to the wire.
The Brummies enjoyed the lead for much of the game as TIL struggled to dominate in the pack.
The home team came surging back in the second period though and the game swung between the two sides
The Brummies thought they had clinched victory when they called the jam off with eight seconds remaining on the period clock and a four point lead on the scoreboard.
However TIL called a timeout to force the extra jam and give them one last shot at overturning the Brummies’ lead.
Despite fielding a power line-up though the Brummies snatched lead jammer status and promptly called off the jam as the period clock passed zero.
The victory for the Brummies secured second place in the division and the final promotion spot to the Premier Division in 2017.
TIL now turn their attention to a busy ‘off-season’, with games against Tyne and Fear (27 August) and Barrow Infernos (9 October) already in the pipeline.
